Sep 3, 2014

NEW YORK, Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- McGraw-Hill Education today announced "Read It Forward," a back-to-school program that will see the company donate a textbook for the purchase of every SmartBook® in the higher education market from now until January 2015. As part of the campaign, McGraw-Hill Education has teamed with Brother's Brother Foundation, the Asia Foundation, World Vision and International Book Bank to supply K-12 students around the world with books. The company aims to reach hundreds of thousands of students in need through Read It Forward.

"There are millions of children who attend schools that do not have access to the most basic supplies—including books. Our program hopes to help these students by providing them with the tools they need to be successful," said Matt Busbridge, executive director of digital product marketing for McGraw-Hill Education, Higher Ed. "With SmartBook, we've revolutionized the college reading experience, and through 'Read It Forward' we're hoping to encourage students to try this experience for themselves while giving them the opportunity to share the power of reading with students around the world."

SmartBook—the first adaptive reading experience for higher education—is designed to help students understand and retain course material by guiding each student through a highly personal study experience, making every minute spent studying the most productive minute possible. Like a personal tutor, the technology responds to a student's behavior as he/she works, constantly reconfiguring to meet his/her specific study needs. Studies have shown that SmartBook has increased student performance by a full letter grade. There are currently more than 300 SmartBooks available in the higher education market for purchase, with additional titles to become available shortly.

To enter the promotion, students should enter the code FORWARD2014 at checkout through McGraw-Hill Education's online store where they will also receive 15% off their SmartBook purchase. For more information, please go to www.mhereaditforward.com.
