SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A testament to the explosive growth of its cloud-based lecture capture solution, Tegrity has more than doubled the number of new customers to date in 2011 over the year prior. Further, revenues from existing customers have grown by 82% as instructors and students at these institutions have increasingly embraced Tegrity as an essential learning tool.

When considering the return on investment (ROI) for lecture capture solutions, actual student usage is the most critical barometer. In 2011, students viewed Tegrity recordings more than 10 million times, a 62% increase over 2010. As students review class time and course content on their own time, they learn more efficiently and their grades improve. The institution then ultimately benefits from increased student retention and satisfaction, and gain a competitive edge in regard to student recruitment.

Research indicates that this viewing activity makes a measurable impact on student achievement. In a nationwide survey of over 9,000 student users, 95% of all respondents indicated Tegrity contributed positively to their learning, with significant increases in motivation to study, depth of learning and amount of course material learned during a college course using Tegrity's lecture capture capabilities. 74% of student respondents indicated that Tegrity improved their grade.

"Signing up a customer is a nice first step, but usage is what really counts; and in terms of actual usage, no other solution comes close to Tegrity because it's so easy-to-use for instructors and so incredibly powerful for students as a learning tool," said Isaac Segal, president of Tegrity. "However, if the technology only touches a few classrooms, then the ROI is severely diluted. Tegrity's cloud-based model makes it affordable for institutions to scale campus-wide, which is why more than 50% of our customers do just that," he added.

A sampling of new customers added in Q3 2011 includes Florida State University; Marymount College; North Central Michigan College; Pasadena City College; Polk State College; Rhode Island College; West Georgia Technical College; Wright State University and University Health Services, Inc. (previously University Health Care System).
