NEW YORK, Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- All-digital learning has arrived in Texas, where more than 140 school districts have adopted McGraw-Hill Education's CINCH® Science program for use in grades 5-12. CINCH Science and its companion, CINCH® Math, are the first comprehensive all-digital curricula available for the K-12 market and are compatible with most devices, allowing students to extend the learning experience by accessing content inside or outside the classroom. Texas school districts are turning to CINCH Science to address the need for affordable digital solutions that meet the latest educational standards and prepare students for new state assessments.

The cloud-based program, which is available to schools via subscription, has already been approved by the following districts in Texas for use in the 2011-2012 school year:

    -- Houston Independent School District
-- Fort Worth Independent School District
    -- Galveston Independent School District
-- Grand Prairie Independent School District
    -- Birdville Independent School District
    -- Lewisville Independent School District
    -- Nederland Independent School District

With more than 200,000 users of CINCH nationwide, McGraw-Hill Education expects more and more schools to select the all-digital program as the school year progresses. The adoptions come as the company has strategically turned toward subscription-based models for its digital learning products.

"We're excited to introduce students in Texas to an all-digital science program that provides an engaging learning experience no matter where they are, or which device they're using," said Randy Reina, senior vice president of McGraw-Hill's Center for Digital Innovation. "With programs like CINCH Science, school districts get the best of both worlds - innovative digital solutions with authoritative content that's supported by years of research and field-testing - through a subscription that they can customize to their needs."

With educational games and social networking elements - such as the ability to highlight content and spark a discussion that appears like a Facebook comment thread - CINCH Science offers teachers a number of ways to engage students that go beyond what's offered by a "traditional" digital textbook. The program is also fully customizable from the district down to the teacher level.

CINCH Science will help prepare Texas students for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), to be administered for the first time in the 2011-2012 school year.
