MONTEREY, Calif., Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CTB/McGraw-Hill, a leading provider of adult education and Pre-K-12 assessment solutions, today announced the nationwide launch of TABE Adaptive™, a computer adaptive version of the company's TABE® 9&10 test, the most comprehensive and reliable adult basic skills assessment on the market. TABE Adaptive, CTB/McGraw-Hill's first computer adaptive product, allows adult education programs to more effectively screen and place students in training and employment programs as well as determine readiness to take the GED® Tests.

TABE Adaptive adjusts to a student's individual ability and skill level by analyzing the student's responses while the test is being conducted. By creating a unique assessment experience for each student, TABE Adaptive can determine a student's score with fewer questions - saving adult educators the time and resources needed for prescreening tests.

The launch of TABE Adaptive furthers McGraw-Hill Education's position as the leader in adaptive education technology that personalizes the learning experience. Among the company's most innovative offerings are those that allow students to assess, remediate or reinforce, and master concepts and skills as they move through their coursework. These programs create a "class of one" - an experience that is personalized, customized and mobile, and that can extend learning well beyond classroom hours.

"We are pleased to extend our line of TABE products, with this exciting computer adaptive assessment solution," said Ellen Haley, president of CTB/McGraw-Hill. "By using TABE Adaptive, our customers will be able to decrease testing time, increase score accuracy, enjoy immediate feedback, increase test security, and encourage a more positive attitude among students toward testing."

The product, administered online, provides immediate score reporting which allows instructors to make informed instructional and training decisions in real time. TABE Adaptive provides educators with diagnostic information that assists them in moving students forward in important skill areas for success.

TABE 9&10, which is the basis for TABE Adaptive, is closely aligned with both national standards and the latest GED Test, including critical and higher order thinking skills. TABE provides comprehensive, reliable information to ensure that adult students will be successful in today's society. The tests support the same philosophies found in the best adult education programs, featuring test items that focus on adult life skills, predict success on the GED Test, and demonstrate progress toward literacy, education and job-related goals.

TABE 9&10 is currently used by more than 10,000 adult education programs throughout all 50 states, Canada, the Caribbean, and at all US Military Educational Centers.
