NEW YORK, Feb. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- McGraw-Hill Education's GradeGuru.com will host a free showcase of innovative teaching and learning tools and provide attendees with the opportunity to network with today's education game changers including Google, Skype and Unigo on Feb. 9. The event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. EST in The McGraw-Hill Companies' second floor auditorium, 1221 Avenue of the Americas in New York City. It is part of Social Media Week, a global platform that connects people, content and conversation around emerging trends in social and mobile media.
During this event hosted by McGraw-Hill's GradeGuru, entitled "Innovation Showcase: Social Media for Higher Education," attendees will gain a better understanding of how technology tools and social media are playing an integral role in education and how these technologies can be used in the classroom. In addition, there will be many opportunities for attendees to speak with company representatives and interact with the tools shaping student learning and engagement in higher education. Emily Sawtell, senior director of Student Innovations for McGraw-Hill Higher Education, will offer opening remarks at the event.
The event is free to all attendees who will also have the opportunity to network with CIO's, IT directors, provosts, professors and education influencers. Additionally, attendees who "check-in" to the Social Media Week at The McGraw-Hill Companies venue on Foursquare and stop by the on-site GradeGuru booth will be granted free access to "StudyTracker Pro" the iPhone app by GradeGuru. "StudyTracker Pro" is a study network where college students can share their study materials, engage in collaborative learning, and get peer-feedback while building their online academic profiles for internships and career opportunities.
