McGraw-Hill Senior Vice President Jeff Livingston Featured in 22nd Annual AT&T African-American History Calendar

NEW YORK, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Jeff Livingston, senior vice president of McGraw-Hill Education's College and Career Readiness Center, has been selected by AT&T South Carolina as an honoree for the 2011 AT&T African-American History Calendar. Each year, the calendar features 12 individuals from the areas of journalism, business, entertainment, broadcasting, sports, and public service and has included the likes of Senator I. Dequincy Newman, Modjeska Monteith Simkins and Jesse Jackson.

Mr. Livingston was announced as an honoree during an unveiling ceremony at the Kroger Center for the Arts in Columbia, S.C. The calendar is designed to assist students in learning more about the contributions of distinguished African-Americans who have connections to the state. Since its launch in 1989, the calendar has emerged as a global resource for recognizing the achievements of African-Americans with ties to South Carolina.

"I was fortunate enough participate in the development of this calendar as a marketing intern with, what was then, Bell South of South Carolina in 1989. It is truly an honor to be recognized among the highly accomplished African-American professionals and civil rights activists who have inspired me to succeed since childhood," said Mr. Livingston. The individuals featured on the 2011 African-American History Calendar join a select group of individuals from South Carolina who serve as shining role models for children throughout the state. They have made a difference in their fields and their communities, excelling in areas as diverse as education, business, entertainment, sports, arts and crafts and public service.

Mr. Livingston currently leads McGraw-Hill Education's College and Career Readiness Center, a group that is dedicated to helping high school students attain the skills needed to excel at the postsecondary level. Before joining McGraw-Hill Education in 2004, he was a successful entrepreneur specializing in instructional technology and urban school district marketing. Previously, Mr. Livingston was co-founder, president, and chief operating officer of Achieva.com, where he helped to build the largest provider of online test prep and college prep for American high schools. Mr. Livingston holds a bachelor's degree in government and economics from Harvard University. In the early 1990s, he spent several years in investment banking and trading financial derivatives for Merrill Lynch.
