McGraw-Hill Gathers Early Childhood Educators At '2010 DLM Summer Institute'

Early childhood education experts to share strategies for academic and social
success in the pre-K classroom WHAT:
McGraw-Hill Education's Intervention & Special Needs Center is inviting teachers and administrators of pre-K programs, Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) and Head Start programs, to learn fresh ideas for engaging students in a wide variety of content areas at the '2010 DLM Summer Institute.' The two-day event will host several sessions focused on the professional development of early childhood educators, and will address many different topics, including:
-- The latest methods for teaching pre-K students skills in letters and sounds -- Recent research in social learning -- How to get parents excited about their child's learning -- Effective learning environments for children with autism spectrum disorder -- How to use bilingual books and promote literacy in the classroom
The DLM Summer Institute will also launch McGraw-Hill's new Texas edition of The DLM Childhood Express, a comprehensive early childhood program completely aligned with Texas Pre-K Guidelines. The DLM Early Childhood Express teaches little children big ideas through fully integrated instruction in all content areas, including literacy, math, science, social studies, social and emotional development, and music and movement. Sessions will provide a detailed overview of The DLM Early Childhood Express' components, lesson planning and 21st century technology.
Registration for the DLM Summer Institute is free of charge and available at www.DLMSummerInstitute.com. The deadline to register is July 15 and hotel registration must be completed by July 5.

Discussions will be led by authors of The DLM Early Childhood Express, McGraw-Hill national consultants and Texas early childhood educators, who will provide effective methods and strategies to achieve academic and social progress among early childhood students. Specifically, Thomas Borden, Music Consultant for McGraw-Hill and President-Elect of The American Orff-Schulwerk Association's Chicago Orff Chapter, will speak about the opportunities for movement and active music making in children's literature, and provide musical suggestions that are engaging for early childhood students.
