McGraw-Hill Hosts 'Number Worlds' Training Series on Standards-Based Math Intervention

Educators in six states will hear nationally recognized mathematics expert Douglas Clements address top issues in math education WHAT:
This April and May, educators in Georgia, South Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Texas are invited to learn more about McGraw-Hill's standards-based edition of Number Worlds, a comprehensive math prevention/intervention program for Grades K-8 aligned with each state's math standards. The Number Worlds training series is free of charge, and will address relevant topics and issues in mathematics education and feature two sessions.
The "Mathematics Training for School Administrators" session will explore a range of topics, including:
-- The latest research in mathematics education -- The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Focal Points and how they impact math instruction -- Policies and issues in mathematics education -- Planning for meaningful mathematics professional development activities The "Train the Trainer" session will focus on: -- The correlation between Number Worlds and each state's standards -- Differentiated Instruction in math -- General components of the Number Worlds program and their impact on students with special learning needs WHO:
Several presentations will be led by nationally recognized mathematics expert, Douglas H. Clements, Associate Dean for Educational Technology and Professor of Learning at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Clements is co-author of the Building Blocks curriculum, contributor to the National Math Panel Report and co-author of NCTM's Curriculum Focal Points. He has published more than 100 refereed research studies, eight books, 50 chapters, and 200 additional publications in the areas of mathematics education, educational technology, and early childhood education.
