Experts to share strategies that effectively support elementary and secondary
students in reaching their full learning potential
WHAT: This April and May, experts from across the country will gather for The McGraw-Hill School Education Group's First Annual Intervention Summit Series to discuss strategies and programs that support students with diverse learning needs, and enable them to excel through their academic careers.
The Intervention Summits will feature numerous elementary and secondary sessions, elaborating on a range of topics including:
-- Response to Intervention -- Supporting English Language Learners -- Effective Science, Reading and Math Intervention -- Differentiating Instruction -- Data Analysis and Small Group Instruction
The sessions will examine the implementation and instruction of intervention programs, including the elements of effective adolescent literacy instruction, the implementation of Response to Intervention in elementary and secondary schools, and more.
WHO: Discussions will be led by prominent experts in the education field, including authors, professors and consultants, among others. These individuals have decades of experience associated with struggling students, and many have contributed to the execution of several reading math, science, and intervention programs.
Specifically, Douglas H. Clements, co-author of the Building Blocks curriculum and Associate Dean for Educational Technology and Professor of Learning at the University at Buffalo, will speak about early and elementary mathematics, including research findings that support new approaches to mathematics education. Dr. Clements has published more than 100 refereed research studies, eight books, 50 chapters, and 200 additional publications in the areas of mathematics education, educational technology, and early childhood education.
