The launch of the third edition of MyGuide®, a personal learning program from McGraw-Hill Education, will enable educators to link assessment data into differentiated supplemental lessons, achieving a greater level of differentiated instruction than ever before.

Designed for Grades 6-8 in reading and math, MyGuide uses the latest in cognitive science research and intelligent technology to link assessment data to instruction. Unlike other programs that only incorporate state summative tests, MyGuide also uses the district's own formative assessment results to deliver standards-aligned differentiated instruction, which includes extensive teacher support to ensure that every student's learning needs are met.

Once the district's assessment data is loaded into MyGuide, the system determines leveled content based on individual scores and provides teachers with differentiated lessons at the click of a button.

This unique classroom tool is eligible for Race to the Top federal funds. Its components include:

-- MyGuide Management System for Teachers: Allows teachers to print
MyGuide instructional materials, preview online tutorials, access
differentiated instruction tools, and link to additional teacher
      resources.
-- MyGuide Online System for Students: Provides students with individual
accounts where they can complete online tutorials, review their own
summative test scores and generate copies of the summative MyGuide.
-- Teacher Power Packs: Delivers explicit differentiated instruction for
three groups of students and includes classroom strategies for working
with small groups in a workshop model.
-- Student Power Packs: Delivers state standards-aligned,
performance-based instruction to achieve standards mastery.

"Douglas Unified School District, located in the southeast corner of Arizona, has several unique characteristics, including its high poverty rate and large student population of English Language Learners. The district has two middle schools that serve approximately 900 students. The teachers at these schools were struggling to successfully utilize the data from benchmark assessments to perform meaningful and effective interventions with students below level. MyGuide was the product that made this connection possible for Douglas."

- Director, Office of School Improvement, Douglas Unified School District

"MyGuide is a great way to differentiate instruction. We have found that we can use it as described or we can use it as a reading lesson with hands-on independent activities, while the teacher manages small instructional groups. We can see that the students have improved when we look at their formative and summative assessments. The best part is the dialogue that teachers are having in their Professional Learning Communities and the development of common assessments."
