McGraw-Hill Education, the leading provider of digital and print educational materials for Grades K-12, is the recipient of Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) first-ever Talent Development Innovator Award. The award recognizes organizations that lead the industry in creating programs to build and develop exceptional talent in the educational publishing field.

The award was presented at the AEP's annual Hall of Fame Breakfast and Induction Ceremony. The event honors three individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the educational resource community. Dan Caton, executive vice president of McGraw-Hill School Education Group's Learning Solutions Centers, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

McGraw-Hill Education was honored for its commitment to company-wide professional development programs for employees at all stages of their careers - from an internship program focusing on new recruits to leadership and management programs that continually contribute to the enhancement of employees' unique skills and talents. The AEP also recognized the company for its dedication to actively recruiting from a diverse talent pool.

"Diversity is a core value for our company and critical to our business success, and that value is reflected in our commitment to an inclusive workplace where each individual is respected and enabled to reach his or her full potential," said Bill Oldsey, executive vice president of McGraw-Hill Education. The company offers a variety of programs focused on diversity. For example, the organization partners with a number of outside agencies in recruitment efforts, provides diversity training for employees, and runs an internship program largely focused on developing employees from different backgrounds, with diverse perspectives and ideas.

As part of The McGraw-Hill Companies, McGraw-Hill Education has provided extensive professional development opportunities for employees through an extremely successful, worldwide mentoring program. McGraw-Hill Education's college internships, which utilize mentors and individualized goal-setting, help create a pipeline of high-level graduates interested in the publishing industry. In addition, McGraw-Hill Education's leadership foundation for first-time and middle managers helps pave the way for career success. Targeted professional development programs enable growth opportunities for employees at every level of the organization. Employees participate in classroom-type and one-on-one sessions as well as through an advanced, digital learning management system. Topics of online, self-paced courses range from leadership skill-building to computer training.

"This is a distinct honor for McGraw-Hill Education," said Caton. "Our aim is to consistently provide our people with opportunities for professional growth. McGraw-Hill Education's talent development programs are clearly an outstanding investment in the career of each individual and the future of our organization."

"Through the Talent Development Innovator Award program, our goal is to encourage innovative practices in recruitment and professional development to ensure that educational publishing continues to thrive and serve the next generations of educators and students," said Charlene Gaynor, CEO of AEP. "McGraw-Hill is truly setting the standard in this arena."
