As educators continue to look for ways to extend and enrich high school science courses, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill announces the release of Virtual Investigations, a program that will enable high school students to discover, reinforce, and expand scientific understanding through active, technology-based learning experiences.

Virtual Investigations was designed with today's high school science student in mind and with significant input from classroom teachers and science content experts.

The program enables students to actively explore scientific models and concepts in ways that would be impossible in traditional high school science classroom and laboratory settings. For example, with the Virtual Investigation "Half-Life", students can safely study the behavior of a highly radioactive sample as it decays; with "The Photoelectric Effect", students can perform experiments using an apparatus that is typically only physically available at the university level.

Other Virtual Investigations enable students to practice performing titrations, using calorimeters, and building circuits before doing the same in the laboratory. In addition, editable activities help teachers differentiate instruction to maximize science learning for students with strong or weak mathematical backgrounds.

Virtual Investigations and their corresponding activities correlate to Glencoe/McGraw-Hill's Physics: Principles and Problems, Chemistry: Matter and Change, and Chemistry: Concepts and Applications, but they can be adapted easily to any physics or chemistry curriculum.
