McGraw-Hill Contemporary Introduces 'Pre-GED Online' To Build Student Background Knowledge for GED Study

McGraw-Hill Contemporary has introduced Pre-GED Online to provide interactive instruction in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies for students who lack the reading ability to work with GED-level materials. Sample lessons are available at http://mhcontemporary.com/webfiles/promos/onlinesuite_sampler.html.

Pre-GED Online is ideal for teacher-assisted lab settings or in self-study distance learning. Students work through the fully Web-based program by taking pretests, studying with interactive materials, and assessing themselves with lesson quizzes, unit tests, and post-tests.

To help struggling readers and English-language learners, a glossary of more than 700 words in both English and Spanish is included in the program. By clicking the audio icons, students hear the pronunciation and the definition of each term in both languages.

The Pre-GED Online Management System allows teachers and administrators to keep track of students' progress and view/print reports as needed. Teachers can intercede when students need extra help, using prescriptions of Contemporary print materials for remediation.

"Whether a teenager struggling in high school or an adult who didn't graduate, Pre-GED Online makes preparing for the GED a convenient and effective alternative," said Lisa Tullos, marketing manager. "Serving as an online tutor, Pre-GED Online allows learners to customize which lessons they need to turn their areas of weakness into areas of success."
