Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, the leading provider of print and digital educational materials for middle and secondary students, offers innovative assessment tools to guide instruction and ensure California state standards are mastered in its all-new literature and language arts program, Glencoe Literature: California Treasures.
Glencoe Literature: California Treasures is aligned to California Reading and Language Arts standards. Ongoing assessment to determine each student's strengths and needs helps teachers make decisions about instruction.
"Assessment is not simply testing," said author Beverly A. Chin, Ph.D., professor of English at the University of Montana. "It is about teaching -- that is, making decisions and modifications in teaching in response to assessment results with the purpose of increasing student achievement."
"Glencoe's new program for California equips teachers with integrated digital and print assessment tools to direct instruction for California students while meeting state standards," she added.
The Online Progress Reporter helps California teachers evaluate individual student progress and determine if additional support is necessary. Progress Monitoring checks in the teacher's edition provide re-teaching suggestions with each lesson. In addition, interactive tools allow teachers to create lesson plans and tests correlated to state standards.
The program also includes practice opportunities for standardized tests and formative assessments in literary elements, reading skills, vocabulary, and writing.
