Input from California educators helped shape every aspect of the state-approved SRA Imagine It! reading and language arts programs for Grades K-6, designed specifically to meet state standards.
Teachers served on the California advisory panel and provided guidance on the needs of California teachers. One example of the panel's input is the inclusion of a California-specific unit in the Grade 4 level. The unit, called "A Changing State" helps teach students about the history and government of California. The unit includes selections such as "The First Californians," "State Governments," "Spanish Missions," "California's Elected Officials," and "A Gold Miner's Tale."
"We paid close attention to the needs of California teachers and students when tailoring Imagine It! to meet state standards," said Karen Hayashi, M.A., an author of the program and retired educator from the Elk Grove (Calif.) Unified School District. "The core program includes all of the student and teacher instructional materials and resources necessary for providing reading instruction to a diverse student population. This strong core instruction has been enhanced by the latest innovations in educational technology."
All of the elements in Imagine It! are supported by the program's eSuite technology, which includes online resources for both teachers and students.
