Sixty-one percent of Florida students will be using Florida Treasures, a reading and language arts program for Grades K-6, and now Florida teachers using the program have access to a robust new Web site launched by the program's publisher, Macmillan/McGraw-Hill.

The only Web site of its kind and designed specifically for Florida educators as they become acquainted with and teach the program, the Florida Treasures web site (http://treasures.macmillanmh.com/florida/teachers) provides professional development activities around the clock, as well as a place for teachers to share ideas and lesson plans.

Florida teachers can pose a question to the eConsultant about the program and receive an answer within 24 hours. Also available are podcasts/videos, tips for using the program, and a variety of resources to address common teaching challenges.

While the site was launched to support Florida teachers during the critical first year of teaching the program, the content is relevant and useful even to those Florida educators who have been teaching for years.

"We are dedicated to supporting Florida teachers using our programs and want to make sure they have access to the highest quality materials and services," said Steve McClung, president of McGraw-Hill School Solutions Group, which includes Macmillan/McGraw-Hill. "This site will help Florida teachers take full advantage of the program's assets and meet the needs of all students. The success of Florida teachers and students is ultimately how we'll measure our success."

Research-based and scientifically tested, Florida Treasures is designed to build a lifetime love of reading through explicit, systematic instruction coupled with time-honored classics, contemporary nonfiction, and rich literature. The program is centered on the state's assessment model, and meets all the Florida benchmarks for student success.
