Macmillan/McGraw-Hill's Comprehensive PreK-6 Language Arts Program Recommended for California

Macmillan/McGraw-Hill's California Treasures, a new research-based elementary reading and language arts program, recently was recommended by the Instructional Materials Advisory Panel to the Curriculum Development and Supplemental Materials Commission in the state of California. This selection represents a comprehensive digital and print solution customized to meet California standards.

Developed by an author team including leading Spanish-language and reading experts, California Treasures includes built-in targeted support for academic vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.

Additionally, a complete English language development program developed by Diane August, Ph.D. is available for Grades K-6. Providing an array of targeted instructional strategies and materials, this program offers a clear path for students transitioning to English.

Completing Macmillan/McGraw-Hill's offering for California students and teachers, California Tesoros de lectura offers parallel instruction for Spanish speaking students with side-by-side Spanish and English instruction in the teacher's edition and utilizes engaging authentic Spanish literature with appropriate phonics instruction to ground Spanish speaking students in reading skills and experiences.

Research-Based Strategies to Improve Student Writing

Macmillan/McGraw-Hill partnered with The Writers' Express, a non-profit organization committed to improving students' literacy skills, to develop a new, research-based instructional model for teaching writing.
