As part of an ongoing effort to promote public support of the teaching profession, TeachersCount, a not-for-profit organization, has paired a new set of celebrities with their favorite teachers in a poster series to be shared with schools nationwide through an initiative co-sponsored by McGraw-Hill Education.

For a second time this year, nearly a quarter of a million posters based on the TeachersCount "Behind Every Famous Person Is a Fabulous Teacher" advertising campaign will be shipped in sample kits of instructional materials to school districts across the country by McGraw-Hill Education. Additionally, educators may request posters from TeachersCount directly while supplies last by emailing info@teacherscount.org.

The "Behind Every Famous Person Is a Fabulous Teacher" campaign features well-known individuals with their favorite teachers. Among the notable "students" in this poster series being distributed are professional football player Eddie Kennison, professional basketball player Michelle Snow, fashion designer Zac Posen, and actor James Franco. The series of ads appear throughout the Time Inc. family of magazines.

Kennison grew up in Lake Charles, La., where he attended Washington-Marion High School. In his ad, he recognizes English teacher Jacquelyn Stevens, explaining, "It didn't take us long to realize that if we didn't want to do an assignment over and over, we'd better just do it right from the first time." Stevens, who was named the 2007 NFL Teacher of the Year, thanks to Kennison, commented, "When I raise the bar, my students reach up and grab it."

"We realize that learning starts first with the teacher, and we strive to help them make a difference," said Bill Oldsey, executive vice president, McGraw-Hill Education. "The TeachersCount campaign recognizes all the deserving teachers in America, and we are pleased to honor this profession by participating in this project."

"This campaign was designed to celebrate teachers and their accomplishments while motivating the next generation of educators," said TeachersCount executive director Diana Burroughs. "We appreciate the support of McGraw-Hill Education in making it possible to share this poster series with schools across the country."

In Spring 2008, McGraw-Hill Education delivered 250,000 posters featuring actors America Ferrera and Tony Shalhoub, recording artist Chris Bridges (Ludacris), and American Express chairman and CEO Ken Chenault.
