McGraw-Hill Professional, a leading global provider of information resources for the scientific and medical communities, today announced the launch of point-of-care Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits on Harrison's Practice. This seamlessly embedded feature in Harrison's Practice enables physicians and other health care providers to meet yearly continuing education requirements with information they find every day at work.

Harrison's Practice, launched in mid-2006, is the point-of-care digital resource that offers clinicians the unmatched authority of the Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine, 17th edition editorial board. Clinicians can rapidly access more than 700 of the most common medical topics via desktop, mobile web device, and PDA. And now users can quickly complete CME activities in any of the available topics, satisfying continuing education requirements more efficiently.

Clinicians will be able to earn CME credit for searches they initiate to answer questions that arise during their regular workday. From within any one of 700 topics, physicians can complete a quick survey about their search results and how they would apply this new knowledge to their patient case management. All their CME activities -- whether they are completed on a PDA or the web -- will be tracked in the online CME center.

Each activity is worth 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™. Users of Harrison's Practice can earn a maximum of 10 credits per calendar year. CME credit is made available via a joint sponsorship of the Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association (IPMA) and The McGraw-Hill Companies. IPMA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
