Educational publisher SRA/McGraw-Hill welcomes four teacher ambassadors to the International Reading Association's (IRA) Annual Convention, which will take place May 4-8 in Atlanta. This is an annual convention where thousands of teachers and reading experts gather to share best practices and the latest trends in literacy instruction. During the event, SRA's teacher ambassadors will share their knowledge and expertise of SRA/McGraw-Hill's programs, including Open Court Reading, Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading and Imagine It! with conference-goers visiting SRA's exhibit booth. As guests of SRA, they also will have the opportunity to take part in the many presentations and workshops at the leading professional development event for educators.
The 2008 SRA teacher ambassadors are: -- Melissa Ertsgaard, Kindergarten Teacher at East End Community School, Dayton, Ohio -- Carolyn Jones, School-based Literacy Teacher Leader at General David B. Birney Elementary School, Philadelphia, Pa. -- Madieth Malone, Title I Instructional Coach at Lucille M. Brown Middle School, Richmond, Va. -- Nancy Oakley, Grade 4 Teacher at Hartsfield Elementary School, Tallahassee, Fla.
"We've learned that teachers really like hearing directly from other teachers about how SRA curricula is used in the classroom," said Amy Tillinghast, creative director for SRA. "These four women are wonderful teachers with a great deal of expertise in reading, and we're happy they can join us at the IRA conference as ambassadors for SRA programs."
