It is a critical mission. Collaborate with U.S. colleges and universities to establish more efficient and effective approaches to learning and help ensure that a nation continues to compete and thrive in the new global economy. That mission is a driving force behind McGraw-Hill Higher Education's new alliance with the National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT). NCAT is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides leadership in using information technology to redesign learning environments to produce better learning outcomes at a reduced cost to higher education institutions.

By joining forces with NCAT, McGraw-Hill Higher Education, a leading provider of electronic and print learning materials, will work closely with colleges and universities that are engaged in innovative course redesign projects. "We are very excited about the opportunity to collaborate with NCAT and contribute to efforts that enhance instruction and drive student achievement nationwide," said Jeremy Singer, president of McGraw-Hill Higher Education Digital Products. "The convergence of technology and learning continues to hold great promise for higher education institutions. McGraw-Hill and NCAT are sharply focused on leveraging that technology in scalable ways to increase quality and improve efficiency particularly in large-enrollment introductory courses."

A key objective for McGraw-Hill Higher Education's alliance with NCAT will be to forge closer ties between the content creators, technology developers, and those in the education community engaged in cutting-edge course redesign projects. Those closer connections will lead to a greater awareness of educational best practices and the solutions that need to be developed to better serve students and meet administrative goals. NCAT will help facilitate meaningful dialog between McGraw-Hill and the various colleges and universities with which it works through one-on-one contact, focus groups, workshops, and meetings with educators.

"Through testing and refinement of our course redesign methodology and by working with a diverse groups of colleges, universities and community colleges, NCAT has demonstrated that all post-secondary institutions are capable of achieving improved outcomes at a reduced cost," said Dr. Carol Twigg, NCAT's president and CEO and an internationally recognized expert in using information technology to transform teaching and learning in higher education. "McGraw-Hill brings extensive expertise in content development and digital solutions to this alliance and we look forward to working with this company as we continue to rethink the way instruction is delivered in light of the possibilities that new technology offers."

McGraw-Hill Higher Education offers an array of digital products and learning tools designed to provide new paths to educational success for students and instructors. Developed by leading experts in content development and instructional technology, McGraw-Hill's digital products and services include online courses, homework management programs, tutoring, assessment solutions and additional resources for students such as iPod content and online learning resources.

NCAT uses a proven methodology to build replicable course redesigns that increase student achievement and reduce costs to the institutions.
