Publishing Veteran Daniel Caton Named President of McGraw-Hill Learning Group

McGraw-Hill Education has appointed Daniel Caton as president of McGraw-Hill Learning Group (MHLG), succeeding Peter F. Sayeski, who retires April 30. Mr. Caton joins MHLG from Pearson Learning Group, where he served as president.
MHLG was established in 2003 by combining the operations of SRA/McGraw- Hill and Wright Group/McGraw-Hill to leverage growth opportunities within the PreK-12 alternative basal and supplementary markets.

"As president of MHLG, Dan's leadership and expertise will ensure that SRA and Wright Group remain the leaders in the alternative basal and supplemental markets."
SRA/McGraw-Hill is well known for leading programs including Direct Instruction and Open Court Reading. Wright Group/McGraw-Hill publishes industry leaders Everyday Mathematics and Breakthrough to Literacy.
Mr. Caton joins McGraw-Hill Education from Pearson's supplemental and alternative basal company. While at Pearson Learning Group, he initiated numerous innovative practices to expand collaboration between departments and enhance the organization's diversity. He also oversaw the successful integration of Dominie Press and AGS Publishing into Pearson's operations. Prior to serving at Pearson Learning Group, Mr. Caton was vice president of product development for Pearson's Computer Curriculum Corporation. In addition, he held a number of other key positions in editorial, design and product management while serving with other Pearson units.
Before joining Pearson, Mr. Caton held several managerial positions in editorial, marketing, production, design, and technology development for D.C. Heath and Company, Ginn and Company and The Economy Company.
Mr. Caton began his career as a public school teacher of English and social studies in Huntington Beach, Calif. He holds a bachelor's degree in literature from Claremont McKenna College and a master's degree in education from Claremont Graduate School. He currently resides in Mountain Lakes, N.J.
