Association of Test Publishers (ATP) Announces New Division Officers

The Association of Test Publishers today announced the results of its 2007 Division Officer election. Individuals elected to Division Officer positions are: For the Education Division, Jake Parizek, State Solutions Manager for CTB/McGraw Hill; For the Clinical Division, James Olsen, Vice President/Chief Scientist of Alpine Testing Solutions; For the Industrial/Organizational Division, Ryan Ross, Director of Strategic Alliances and Consulting Partners at Hogan Assessment Systems; and for the Certification Division, Quinn Sutton, Vice President of Marketing for Kryterion, Inc.
ATP's newest Division, ATP-Europe, held its inaugural election in which three individuals were selected for officer positions: Eric Shepherd, CEO of Questionmark, Inc., Cor Sluijter, Ph.D., Director of Adult and Higher Education for Cito, and Paul Howarth, Managing Director of Pearson VUE U.K.
"The high caliber of individuals who ran for these officer positions, and the outstanding qualifications of those who were elected, are a tribute to the continuing mission of the Association of Test Publishers," said ATP Chair Wayne Camara, Vice President of Research and Psychometrics for the College Board.
-- Jake Parizek has more than 30 years of experience in the educational services industry. He holds a B.A. degree from the University of Iowa and his primary roles at CTB/McGraw Hill are identification and evaluation of new educational business opportunities, provision of customer support for existing educational contracts, and determination and analysis of relevant trends in K-12 educational assessment. -- James Olsen holds a Ph.D. from Brigham Young University, and in 2005 he was an ACT Invited Scholar. He has pioneered innovations for computerized, adaptive, e-learning and performance testing and was principal investigator for multiple computerized assessment grants by the National Science Foundation and U.S. Department of Education. -- Ryan Ross served as a senior consultant with Hogan Assessment Systems for the previous nine years, working in both the pre-employment selection and individual development practices. He has served as the project director for testing programs with annual volumes of 330,000 assessments and is an industry expert in criterion-related and validity generalization based implementation of personality assessments. -- Quinn Sutton holds an MBA from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and a Masters of International Business from L'institut de Gestion Sociale and the Sorbonne in Paris, France. He has been involved in the IT Education arena for over 15 years. During his career, Quinn was responsible for global channel sales for SmartForce's Mentoring Services, international marketing for Galton Technologies, strategic marketing and business planning for Novell Education, and worldwide marketing for WordPerfect Training & Certification. -- Eric Shepherd has been instrumental in the development of the IMS Learning Consortium's Question and Test Interoperability standard, embraced by assessment professionals worldwide as a practical means of moving questions from one system to another. Eric has advised corporations, government departments, universities, schools and technical standards bodies on the deployment of computerized assessments. -- Cor Sluijter has over 20 years of experience in developing paper-based and computer-based tests and other assessment instruments for different purposes within primary, secondary, and tertiary education in the Netherlands. He has held several positions at Cito, most recently as director of the Cito-units Vocational, Adult and Higher Education, and the private companies Cito Evaluation Services and Cito Certification. -- Paul Howarth holds an MA in Natural Science from Oxford University and an MBA from London Business School. At Pearson VUE he manages the UK business and oversees the operations of the EMEA region, responsible for over 60 clients, 3000+ testing centers and 1000 staff.
The recently elected Division officers will serve a one-year term in their present position and then move up a rank in leadership until they have served up to three years. As Division Officers they will be invited to sit as ex officio members at Board Meetings of the Association of Test Publishers.
