McGraw-Hill Higher Education and ALEKS Corporation are releasing new algebra courses designed to create a more productive and rewarding learning process for students and the instructors who guide them. The algebra courses are the first higher education programs powered with the new ALEKS AI-2 intelligence engine, which makes the courses more student-friendly and reduces faculty workload.

The course products include Pre-algebra, Beginning Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra. The enhanced ALEKS AI-2 intelligence engine enhances each course with more accurate assessments, greater flexibility in directing student learning, and better alignment with instructor materials and textbooks. In addition, the courses feature dozens of new problem types, allowing for better curriculum coverage. More focused progress assessments enable steadier knowledge acquisition and mastery building. ALEKS developed the new ALEKS AI-2 engine based upon extensive feedback from instructors and students about each of the courses offered.

"It's critical to McGraw-Hill Higher Education that we continually build on the learning solutions that drive student achievement," said Ed Stanford, president of McGraw-Hill Higher Education. "The ALEKS courses are outstanding tools for precise, individualized instruction. For students who are challenged by subjects like algebra, we are confident that these new enhancements will help accelerate learning significantly."

"The new algebra courses allow instructors to better meet the unique learning needs of each student," said Wil Lampros, president of ALEKS Corporation. "User feedback is critical to our success, so we assess each course, understand how students and instructors use the programs, and make improvements based on their needs. The new algebra courses, as with all of the courses powered by ALEKS AI-2, deliver the enhanced benefits our users requested," he added.

Additional higher education courses with the ALEKS AI-2 enhancements will be available through McGraw-Hill Higher Education in the coming months.
