Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, the leading provider of secondary educational content, has formed an alliance with Turning Technologies LLC to give teachers the ability to generate interactive data, assess student comprehension and promote active learning for students using Glencoe programs.
TurningPoint transforms the standard classroom PowerPoint® presentation into a powerful interactive experience, and captivates students' attention. Through an interactive PowerPoint® presentation, teachers can display questions, surveys, opinion polls and games that require every student in the class to select a response via their ResponseCards® and transmit it to the teacher. All audience response data is available via reports that are structured to meet virtually all NCLB reporting needs, tracking individual student participation scores, classroom results, and more. The program can be used immediately with Glencoe's Presentation Plus! and Interactive Chalkboard software programs.
Turning Technologies' TurningPoint software, when used with PowerPoint presentations, makes it possible for teachers to ask questions and collect real-time answers from students using keypads, laptops or PDAs. This student response technology is extremely popular with K-12 educators, colleges, universities and corporate trainers because TurningPoint's interactive questions engage audiences and allow presenters to identify and confirm understanding, increase attentiveness and comprehension, as well as gather, rank and report critical information.
TurningPoint's unique native integration with Microsoft® Office, provides seamless operation from within PowerPoint, Word and Excel. The system allows instructors to deliver information and assess instruction without the need to learn any proprietary software.
"We are pleased to work with Turning Technologies, combining innovative technology tools with Glencoe's rich digital content to enhance the teaching and learning experience and improve student achievement," said Steve McClung, president of Glencoe/McGraw-Hill. "Research shows when these types of interactive elements are integrated into lessons, they generate higher levels of student interest, greater retention and better student performance."
"Turning Technologies has been very successful in forming alliances with innovative leaders in each of our targeted markets. Glencoe/McGraw-Hill is a prime example, with its longstanding commitment to student achievement and its ability to leverage its authoritative and engaging content through technology. For these reasons, we are proud to work with Glencoe," said Mike Broderick, president and CEO of Turning Technologies.
