McGraw-Hill Medical Publishing, a leading provider of print and digital reference and educational content, has joined forces with the Center for the Advancement of Health to deliver timely health-related information on McGraw-Hill's AccessMedicine.com, an innovative online service that provides the medical community with internationally recognized resources.

Through the alliance, AccessMedicine.com now offers a daily e-news digest and news stories about the latest research on the interaction between behavior and health provided by the Health Behavior News Service (HBNS). HBNS is a resource of the Center for the Advancement of Health, generating readable, accurate, and useful news stories on health promotion, disease prevention, chronic conditions and health care services. Staffed by accomplished health journalists, HBNS was recently designated by the National Institute of Standards and the U.S. Department of Energy as "a best-practice for communication of science and technology to the public."

"The Center for the Advancement of Health, known for its evidence-based content taken from peer-reviewed journals and research, complements the authoritative resources of AccessMedicine exceptionally well," said Michael Hays, vice president of McGraw-Hill Digital. "Busy physicians need to know the daily medical developments affecting their patients so they can anticipate and answer their questions."

This new health news content in AccessMedicine.com is grouped in two categories. The first category, What Your Patients Are Reading, provides links to articles in the trade press, posted each business day at 11:00 AM EST. This allows users to scan the "best of" the day's health headlines in real time. The second content category, Systematic Reviews in the News, summarizes-in layman's terms-findings of ongoing clinical trials and investigations affecting patients' daily lives and health. Excerpted from The Cochrane Library, the reviews draw evidence-based conclusions about medical practice from the content and quality of existing trials. The Cochrane Library, published by The Cochrane Collaboration, is an international organization that evaluates medical research.
