CTB/McGraw-Hill, the nation's leading provider of K-12 and adult education assessment solutions, announced today the opening of a satellite office in Austin, Texas, to help educators meet the increasing need for assessment solutions in school districts throughout the state.

"Our decision to establish an Austin office demonstrates our commitment to Texas teachers, students, and parents," said Rick Perez, vice president, Western Region. "We're proud to work in partnership with Texas schools to support the state's diverse student population and help educators meet classroom and accountability requirements in the era of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation."

Texas educators currently use a variety of CTB/McGraw-Hill's assessment products due to the quality of the research behind those products as well as the reliable, useful data they provide for improved student achievement and enhanced instruction. Products include LAS™ and LAS Links™, integrated assessments and instructional guidance for all English language learners; TerraNova™, a comprehensive assessment series used in 46 states that helps teachers identify student needs, measure progress, and determine readiness for state NCLB assessments; and TABE®, the most widely-used test of adult basic education skills in the country.

"As the first Texas district to use LAS Links™, we have found it to be very easy and convenient to assess the students," said Martha Valencia, Bilingual Coordinator, Corpus Christi Independent School District. "It will also be very convenient to have access to technical assistance and support from CTB/McGraw-Hill's new Austin-based office."

In addition, CTB/McGraw-Hill provides support for the Texas Technology Immersion Pilot (TIP) program through the i-know® online assessment system, now used in 18 schools statewide.
