Two of the most respected classroom reading assessments are now available through McGraw-Hill Education. The Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) and the Tejas LEE (for children learning to read in Spanish), Grades K-3, can be purchased through these McGraw-Hill Education divisions: Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, SRA/McGraw-Hill and Wright Group/McGraw-Hill.

"Teachers across the country have found success with TPRI and Tejas LEE, and we are excited that these tools will now be made highly accessible to more teachers and students, thanks to the efforts of the McGraw-Hill School Education Group," said Dr. Jack Fletcher, one of the lead authors of TPRI and a University of Texas-Houston professor.

TPRI and Tejas LEE are screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and outcome assessment instruction tools widely used in many states for Reading First. They are available in a complete classroom kit with everything a teacher needs to ensure students learn to read. Stand-alone assessments, TPRI and Tejas LEE can be used with any reading program.

"Continuous monitoring of student progress and early intervention are critical for teachers to meet goals under NCLB, and that's why we're so pleased to offer TPRI and Tejas LEE," said William Oldsey, executive vice president of McGraw-Hill Education. "These are reading assessment tools that link to intervention activities based on assessment data, and they will complement our reading and literacy programs extremely well."

McGraw-Hill Education, long recognized as a leader in reading instruction, offers a variety of programs that are designed to accommodate the diverse needs of school districts nationwide. Macmillan/McGraw-Hill's Treasures, a scientifically research-based K-6 reading and language arts program to be launched in 2007, will correlate directly to TPRI. The assessments also can be used with research-based programs such as SRA/McGraw-Hill's Open Court Reading, a PreK-6 reading and language arts curriculum grounded in phonics, with systematic, explicit instruction.
