McGraw-Hill Education today announced the acquisition of TurnLeaf Solutions Inc., a national provider of customized online reporting and data analysis. TurnLeaf helps administrators and teachers track progress toward school districts' Adequate Yearly Progress goals, a key provision in the No Child Left Behind law. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

TurnLeaf's technology strengthens McGraw-Hill's Assessment and Reporting businesses by enabling them to provide school districts with more detailed student performance data that can easily be analyzed and compared for reporting purposes. These businesses include CTB/McGraw-Hill, the nation's leading provider of assessment services for the kindergarten-through-12th- grade markets; The Grow Network/McGraw-Hill, a national leader in creating assessment reports and customized instructional materials, and McGraw-Hill Digital Learning, a provider of research-based, standards-aligned solutions that improve instruction and student performance. TurnLeaf's reporting services have been integrated into CTB's offerings through a strategic partnership between the two businesses over the past two years.

TurnLeaf's web-based data management platform provides teachers and administrators with easy-to-use, fast and cost-effective methods to measure and analyze student performance. The platform offers a solution to educators, allowing them to assemble and report performance data in aggregate or component form -- and meet federal reporting provisions set by the Adequate Yearly Progress requirements of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). "Student testing mandated by NCLB generates massive amounts of data, and educators require new methods for managing this information and using it to enhance student achievement," said Henry Hirschberg, president of McGraw-Hill Education, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies.

The TurnLeaf team of 19 employees, based in Littleton, Colo., will become part of The Grow Network, whose reporting capabilities closely align with TurnLeaf's flagship product, the Achievement Management System.

"TurnLeaf's systems, combined with McGraw-Hill Education's assessment and reporting capabilities, will allow us to provide greater support to educators and administrators at the state, district and local levels, giving them comprehensive and reliable solutions for individualized instruction and precision reporting," said Mostafa Mehrabani, president of McGraw-Hill Assessment and Reporting.
