McGraw-Hill Education, the premier provider of teaching and learning solutions, today announced the appointment of Photeine Anagnostopoulos as president of McGraw-Hill Digital Learning, which delivers research-based, standards-aligned solutions to improve instruction and raise student performance. Prior to joining McGraw-Hill, Anagnostopoulos led the largest overhaul of the SAT as a senior vice president of The College Board. She will be based in New York.
"Photo Anagnostopoulos is a proven leader with an outstanding track record for innovation in the field of education, and assessment in particular," said McGraw-Hill Assessment and Reporting president Mostafa Mehrabani. "She joins the McGraw-Hill Education team with a sharp focus on results, strategic vision and a passion for education that will serve our business and markets exceptionally well."
Anagnostopoulos, reporting to Mehrabani, will lead the McGraw-Hill Digital Learning team in the enhancement and development of effective K-12 technology-based programs that improve teaching and learning. Her team will build upon Digital Learning's existing education technology initiatives and increase the number of its digital product offerings, including Yearly ProgressPro™, an online progress monitoring system, which helps administrators and teachers track progress towards school districts' Adequate Yearly Progress goals, a key component of No Child Left Behind. In addition, she will drive McGraw-Hill Education's strategy in the area of formative assessment, the testing that gauges day-to-day academic achievement in the classroom.
During her tenure with The College Board, Anagnostopoulos was responsible for the development of the new SAT, managing the major revision of the critical reading and math sections, the addition of the writing section, and the redesign of the overall operations of the program. She also launched a number of major products for the company, including web-based programs to better prepare students for the SAT and academics in college. Before The College Board, she was vice president of Business Development for Classroom Connect, a provider of professional development programs and online instructional materials for the K-12 market, where she developed and negotiated strategic partnerships and advised senior management on strategy. Earlier, she was with Morgan Stanley, where she analyzed business combinations, financing structures and trading opportunities for clients and senior management as a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions department and the Equity department. Anagnostopoulos holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
