McGraw-Hill Education, a leading global provider of electronic and print products, is dramatically improving the forecast for successful science teaching and learning through a unique alliance with The Weather Channel, a service providing weather information via TV, the web, wireless devices, radio and newspapers worldwide.

"By joining forces with The Weather Channel, we are providing a truly interactive, multimedia experience that will capture the attention of students and engage them in the fascinating study of weather and related subjects," said Steve McClung, president of Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, McGraw-Hill's publisher of educational materials serving secondary school markets. "With McGraw-Hill's science program, teachers can reach students using a variety of media, catering to many different learning styles. And when teaching content is delivered in different ways, one is bound to enhance understanding of the material, reach the greatest number of learners, and achieve better test scores."

Through the science programs offered by McGraw-Hill's Macmillan and Glencoe education divisions, teachers and students will have access to an exclusive Weather Classroom DVD, which offers Weather Channel video, labs and activities.

"The teaching and learning resources available through The Weather Classroom really help reinforce science concepts for my students," said Caty Flanagan, a fourth grade teacher in Cobb County, Georgia. "For example, when we discuss the causes of a winter blizzard, they remember the powerful video clips and have a better understanding of the topic, even if they live in a section of the country that never experiences that kind of weather."

Since McGraw-Hill's science program encompasses grades K-12, the print, video and online materials are extensive, ranging from English Language Learner science kits (grades K-6) to web resources and CD-ROMs supporting the teaching of the life, earth and physical sciences from middle school through 12th grade. These comprehensive programs support the inquiry process, enabling them to engage, explore, explain and evaluate science, delivering the academic performance schools can see.
