CTB/McGraw-Hill, the nation's leading provider of K-12 and adult education assessment solutions, today announced the opening of its first satellite research office, located in Centennial, Colorado. The creation of the new research operation anticipates the increased demand for assessment research services due to accountability requirements facing states and school districts across the country.

Scientists trained in educational assessment and psychometrics will conduct research at the Denver-area location for several state assessment contracts, including the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP), as well as for K-12 assessment solutions. The team will coordinate their efforts with CTB/McGraw-Hill's research staff at corporate headquarters in Monterey, California.

"CTB/McGraw-Hill enjoys a longstanding relationship with the Colorado Department of Education," said David Taggart, president of CTB/McGraw-Hill. "We're very proud to open a research center in a state known for its commitment to education, as we continually expand our services to help states and school districts meet accountability requirements and promote student achievement."

"The Colorado Department of Education is very encouraged to have CTB/McGraw-Hill's first satellite research office in its backyard, because this type of granular research forms the foundation of our education programs," said Jo O'Brien, assistant to the commissioner for Learning and Results, Colorado Department of Education. "We expect our ongoing work with CTB/McGraw-Hill to become accelerated with this satellite office located a mere 15 miles from us."

CTB/McGraw-Hill's highly-trained and respected Research Department creates innovative technical procedures, provides expertise in psychometric research and design for test development, and assists in the development of new products and custom testing programs. In addition, the department designs and conducts the individual studies and measurement procedures required in the production of CTB/McGraw-Hill's assessment instruments.

The Centennial, Colorado research office joins the list of CTB/McGraw-Hill's satellite facilities, including scoring facilities in Delran, NJ, Indianapolis, IN, Salinas, CA, and Mather, CA.
