McGraw-Hill Medical Publishing, a leading publisher of professional health references and databases for physicians and medical students, and Silverchair Science+Communications, a leading developer of health reference information solutions for health care publishers, today announced a multi-year agreement to develop the next generation of McGraw-Hill's best-selling clinical references for the Web, starting with Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment 2004 (CMDT).

Delivering CMDT through Silverchair Content Managerâ„¢(SCM) -- Silverchair's semantic Web platform for clinical references -- will dramatically enhance the speed and accuracy with which physicians can find mission-critical information to support patient care.

"Our alliance with Silverchair will allow us to provide an entirely new level of usability to physicians and medical students," said Jack Farrell, vice president and publisher of Online and Digital Products for McGraw-Hill Medical Publishing. "Semantics-driven applications will allow our key medical content resources-which are quite comprehensive and detailed-to be accessed more quickly and easily than traditional web portals. And updated information, which our author teams generate continually, can be rapidly integrated into these digital references."

"Silverchair is pleased to collaborate with McGraw-Hill Medical Publishing to deliver a breakthrough web application based on CMDT, which is one of the premier reference sources in all of medicine," said Thane Kerner, president and CEO of Silverchair. "An authoritative, comprehensive clinical tool like CMDT married to the speed and accuracy of semantic technology is truly a 'killer app' for medical content delivery."
