The McGraw-Hill Companies Names Mark E. Mooney Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for McGraw-Hill Education

The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP) today announced the appointment of Mark E. Mooney as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for McGraw-Hill Education. McGraw-Hill Education is a leader in using technology to enhance learning and assessment, and Mr. Mooney will help direct those efforts and other initiatives to use technology to advance McGraw-Hill Education's objectives.

"Mark is an experienced executive with a strong record of accomplishment in using technology to advance education."

Most recently, Mr. Mooney worked as Vice President and CIO for Harcourt Education, where he helped transform the company's technology function. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Vivendi Universal's Houghton Mifflin Company, where he was responsible for the integration of technology between Vivendi and Houghton Mifflin. He has also held senior technology positions at The Bureau of National Affairs and Interactive Marketing Services.

Mr. Mooney reports to Mr. Hirschberg, with functional reporting to Mostafa Mehrabani, executive vice president and chief information officer for The McGraw-Hill Companies.

Mr. Mooney has a bachelor's degree in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, a master's in information technology from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in organizational systems from The Fielding Institute.
