McGraw-Hill Education, a leading global provider of solutions that improve teaching and learning, today announced the appointment of two senior executives to lead its international growth initiatives.

Carlos Davis has joined McGraw-Hill Education as senior vice president, Latin/Hispanic Language Publishing. Mr. Davis was formerly president and chief executive officer of the U.S. operations of Santillana, a leading Spanish language publisher based in Spain. He will be responsible for the development of McGraw-Hill Education's businesses in Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and Italy.

Simon Allen has been promoted to senior vice president, International English Language Publishing. Mr. Allen, who was formerly managing director of McGraw-Hill Education's operations in Europe, Middle East, and Africa, will expand his duties to include the Australasian region.

Mr. Davis and Mr. Allen will work closely with managers worldwide in developing McGraw-Hill Education's powerful global franchise, building upon its publishing strength, highly recognized and respected brand, and e-publishing capabilities, which are growing in demand internationally. Both executives will report to Brian Heer, group president of Higher Education, Professional, and International.

"Our international division is well-positioned for future growth in Latin America, Asia, and Europe, particularly in developing countries needing educational solutions. Carlos' expertise in the Spanish and Portuguese language markets and Simon's global experience are significant assets as we expand our already strong presence in these regions," said Henry Hirschberg, president of McGraw-Hill Education.

Mr. Davis worked with Santillana since 1997 and was managing director, Global Foreign Languages, before his promotion to U.S. president and chief executive officer. Previously, he was vice president and chief product officer, Thomson Publishing International.

Prior to joining McGraw-Hill Education, Mr. Allen was president of Higher Education for Pearson in Europe, Middle/East, and Africa. He has held other senior positions with Prentice Hall and Times Mirror International Publishers.
