The Educational Theatre Association announced today that Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, the nation's leading educational publisher for grades 6-12, is the recipient of its Standing Ovation Award for 2003.

The Standing Ovation Award was created to recognize companies or corporations that have made significant, continuous contributions to promoting and strengthening theatre education. This year's award is in recognition of Glencoe/McGraw-Hill's commitment to the educational theatre field with their line of theatre textbooks and ongoing support of theatre educators. Michael Peitz, executive director of the Educational Theatre Association, made the announcement.

Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, which is the leading publisher of theatre arts curriculum materials for the secondary grades, will be presented the award at the 2003 Educational Theatre Association's Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 2, 2003. Rugenia Henry, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill's Language Arts Marketing Manager, will accept the award on behalf of the organization.

"It is an honor to be recognized with this prestigious award from the Educational Theatre Association," said Steve McClung, president of Glencoe/McGraw-Hill. "McGraw-Hill has a rich history of partnering with educators to offer the resources they need to enhance the learning experience. For the Glencoe team, this recognition is a great reminder of our impact on the lives of young people and reflects our commitment to teachers and students as they expand their knowledge of theatre arts."

"The Educational Theatre Association is proud to present Glencoe/McGraw- Hill with our 2003 Standing Ovation Award," Peitz said. "The award recognizes their work in providing theatre educators and students with the tools to aid learning the craft of theatre. They have been responsive to the needs of our teachers by asking their opinion of what they need in good classroom resources. Glencoe/McGraw-Hill is an example of a responsible corporate citizen whose work aligns with the Association's aim of making theatre a part of lifelong learning."
