The only mathematics curriculum- based measurement tool that enables teachers to use the Internet to improve student performance has expanded to reach even more students. McGraw-Hill Digital Learning has extended Yearly ProgressPro™ Math to Grades 7 and 8 and added algebra and geometry to its targeted curriculum.
Yearly ProgressPro™ Math for grades 1-6, launched last year, is designed to help teachers improve student performance and help them demonstrate adequate yearly progress. The research-based tool aids instruction, assessment, and intervention. It provides teachers the data needed to assess mastery and retention of an entire year's curriculum so they can prepare students to succeed on the annual standardized tests that are required by No Child Left Behind.
More than 70,000 students are using Yearly ProgressPro in California, Florida, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Utah. Districts include: Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, North Carolina; Reynoldsburg City School District outside of Columbus, Ohio; and Wicomico County School District in Maryland.
"Teachers and administrators need to know where to focus instruction and how their students are performing comparatively to their state standards, which is why we continue to develop state-specific editions of Yearly ProgressPro™ Math," said Brad Onken, president, McGraw-Hill Digital Learning. "Yearly ProgressPro™ Math is a research-based solution that provides student data in an easy-to-use tool that continually assesses students on all the skills in the math curriculum. We expanded Yearly ProgressPro™ Math to include middle grade mathematics, algebra, and geometry so teachers can ensure the progress of more students and help them raise test scores across the entire math curriculum."
Yearly ProgressPro™ also helps the teacher identify and provide instruction to students needing additional or different forms of instruction. It creates reports that provide continual feedback on student mastery and retention of curriculum standards so teachers can make informed instructional decisions to meet individual student needs.
Developed in collaboration with leading academic researchers, and built upon 25 years of research in Curriculum-Based Measurement that has been validated in more than 200 published studies, Yearly ProgressPro™ assesses students on all the skills covered in an entire year's curriculum. Monitoring progress and retention of knowledge over time provides teachers the best opportunity to target individual student deficiencies and help students improve their performance on standards-based curriculum.
Yearly ProgressPro™ measures student skill mastery through weekly, 15-minute tests that assess the entire grade level curriculum so that the retention of learned skills is frequently monitored for improved performance on end-of-year tests. Yearly ProgressPro™ also includes exercises and practice sets that introduce or explain a given skill and provide for automatic instruction. A data management system then allows educators to track individual student strengths and weaknesses and track whole-class performance on specific skills or skill groupings. Reporting features of the data management system include:
* Automated recommendations and assignments that support classroom lessons. * Tools that generate student, class, and district level mastery reports on all skills in the curriculum.
Ongoing, formative progress monitoring is a necessary component to raising student achievement. Educators and administrators can now realize the value of progress monitoring from their desktop computers by using Yearly ProgressPro™.
